ROLE

Product Designer @ Edition Group

SUMMARY

EROAD partnered with Edition Studio to reimagine their fragmented legacy platform into a unified, intuitive SaaS system for global logistics teams — combining compliance, safety, and tracking in one seamless experience. As Senior Product Designer, I led the redesign from strategy to interface, working closely with users and stakeholders to transform a complex tool into a scalable, human-centered platform that brings clarity and control to day-to-day operations.

THE NORTH STAR

Reimagine the EROAD platform from the ground up — designing a best-practice, future-fit system that simplifies fleet operations, adapts to every user type, and sets a new standard for clarity, usability, and scale. A product vision unbound by legacy constraints, built to show what great could look like — and guide the roadmap forward.

THE LANDSCAPE

EROAD’s legacy platform was bloated and complex — built on overlapping systems that demanded excessive training and slowed productivity. With users ranging from tech-savvy dispatchers to on-the-ground drivers, the one-size-fits-all interface failed to meet anyone’s needs. Information was buried, workflows rigid, and friction was felt across every industry it served — from refrigerated freight to waste transport. We redesigned the experience around real user roles, surfacing the right data at the right time and stripping away the noise — not just to modernize the UI, but to bring clarity, confidence, and flow to high-stakes daily operations.

Legacy systems = slow paced friction

The platform was bloated with old systems, clunky flows, and years of tech debt — making even simple tasks feel painfully manual.

One-size-fits-none

Drivers, dispatchers, and fleet managers all saw the same cluttered interface, despite wildly different needs.

Too much training. Not enough clarity

It took hours of onboarding just to get started — and even then, users still relied on support to complete routine actions.

The right info was never in sight

Critical data was buried or scattered — forcing users to dig for what mattered, instead of getting clear insights at a glance

THE APPROACH

We set out to reimagine a complex, enterprise-grade logistics platform with a modular, future-state design that minimized onboarding friction. To balance innovation with practical continuity, we utilized existing UI components to reduce redundant redevelopment, modernizing where possible without altering core branding or component styles. Our guiding question was simple yet essential: What do different users actually need to see, do, and understand to operate at their best? We were focused on building a flexible system that unified language and logic while allowing each vertical — transport, reefer, concrete, waste — to surface role-specific insights without losing consistency.

Connect Information

Create strong connections between groups of information that relate to one another. Enable users to quickly and easily move between related information groups without losing their sense of place or impeding the task at hand.

Automate the Ordinary

Automate repetitive tasks or workflows, as much as possible, reducing the need for users to manually connect pieces of information to make sense of it. Leverage AI / ML data to predict outcomes, streamline scheduling and minimise managerial manual effort.

Consistent Visual & Verbal Language

Mitigate internal jargon by consolidating labels and setting company wide standards for how elements are references. Discover where the drift in language exists by interviewing weorkers across multiple verticals.

What Shipped & Why It Matters

The result was a modular, role-based platform vision that brought clarity, speed, and usability to the core of EROAD’s offering. Tailored flows for dispatchers, fleet managers, and safety officers replaced the one-size-fits-all model — reducing cognitive load, cutting training time, and making the system usable even for low-tech users. What we delivered wasn’t just a UI refresh, but a foundational shift in how the platform scaled and communicated — a north star blueprint for EROAD’s next-generation product.

Role-based UI cut confusion

We designed tailored views for each user type — helping dispatchers, drivers, and managers get what they need, without digging.

Faster onboarding, less support

By simplifying flows and surfacing relevant info upfront, new users could get started faster — with less need for hand-holding or training.
